The types of documents often notarised for other countries include:
- Powers of Attorney
- Certified copies of existing documents confirming their authenticity
- Land/property documents including transfers and mortgage/security documentation
- Bills of Exchange
A Notary will need to verify the identity of the person signing before being able to notarise the document concerned. The best form of identification is a passport.
A Notary has the responsibility of retaining details of all documents notarised in case, at a later stage, there are queries from officials of the country where the document is to be used as to the authenticity of the document and its execution.
